PR Update is screwed up!

Online Business

Some sort of Google pagerank Update occured on the fourth of April. For a huge discussion on what has occured you can read this thread, http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=71901.

To cut a long story short, it looks as if many sites that don’t deserve a high Google pagerank have got one by default. I have an example of that on one of my registered domains. I registered this domain prior to the update before last with the sole intention of creating an online blog, but never got around to it. It has a few links to it from a web directory or two, but little else.

Prior to this update, the site had a google pagerank of 5. From experience I’d have said that is fair. This latest update has left it with a 6. Now I wouldn’t be bothered, normally I’d be rather happy with that. The unfortunate thing is that their are shedloads of other sites out there that have also got 6’s. Also, I have a couple of other older sites that have pr that they deserve based on the link building, but are lower than the site I’ve done link building for.

There has been a lot of conjecture as to what has happened. A few people have claimed that this is the end of pagerank as we know it. Personally I reckon that Google have just screwed up somewhere.

I’m waiting for this to go back to normal at some point…
